The next Shrewsbury Bonfire & Firework Display will take place on 6th November 2011.

Every year the West Mid Showground plays host to a Bonfire and Firework extravaganza which attracts thousands of people from across the region.

The event sees a huge bonfire created on the site and the gathering of stalls and producers so visitors can enjoy a warm drink or a spot of something stronger as they gather together to celebrate the legend of Guy Fawkes.

Gates open at 3pm to allow families and people of all ages to enjoy the entertainment, the fairground rides and the food on offer.

At around 6.30pm the bonfire is lit and crowds surround it as the fire creeps up until it is all ablaze.

Shortly after the crowds are treated to a spectacular firework display to round off the evening  - and if you don’t fancy walking home afterwards you can take a moonlight trip down the River Severn and back into town on the Sabrina boat.

The 2011 event will be held on November 6 with gates opening to the crowds at 3pm and the bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm, followed by the fireworks.

This year Severn Radio’s breakfast show presenters Neil and Carlie will be on site and live music will entertain the crowds throughout the event.

There will also be a funfair, hot food and drinks, face painting, a licensed bar and much more.

Entry for adults is £5, £2 for children and under fives are free.

PLEASE NOTE: The event will go ahead in all weathers and exits have been improved for the 2011 event.

Due to Health and Safety restrictions people will not be allowed to bring their own sparklers or fireworks. Those that do will have them confiscated.
